Around Here
Jacksonville is a small gold rush town at the edge of Southern Oregon wine country. Come for Britt, wonder downtown, disappear into the Applegate, swim somewhere, drink some wine, and make your way back to Fernweh.
WALK INTO TOWN.
Fernweh sits a few blocks from downtown Jacksonville. Coffee, dinner, shops, Britt and a good wander are all close enough that you can leave the car behind.
HEAD FOR THE VALLEY.
Fifteen minutes in the other direction and things open up. The Applegate is vineyards, farms, winding roads, swimming holes and some of our favorite places to spend an afternoon.
CATCH A SHOW.
Britt has been bringing music to the hillside above Jacksonville since 1963. Walk there from Fernweh, catch a show under the trees, walk home afterward.
GET A LITTLE LOST.
Trails start practically behind town. The Rogue River, Applegate Lake and Table Rocks are all close enough for an afternoon detour.
GO SOUTH.
Ashland is about 25 minutes away when you want more restaurants, shops, Lithia Park or a Shakespeare play.
