By booking a stay at Fernweh Lodge, you acknowledge and agree to the following policies.

Reservations & Payment

The first night’s stay will be charged at booking. A valid credit card is required to secure your reservation, and the remaining balance will be charged on the date of arrival. Rates are subject to change until confirmed. Applicable taxes and fees will be shown at booking.

By booking, the primary guest authorizes Fernweh Lodge to charge the payment method on file for the reservation balance and any additional amounts properly due under these policies, including approved add-ons, damage, missing property, excessive cleaning, smoking remediation, unauthorized occupancy, or other applicable charges.

Cancellations

Reservations may be cancelled free of charge until 48 hours prior to arrival at 12:00 AM local time. Cancellations within 48 hours will forfeit amounts already charged. No-shows are treated as late cancellations.

Special events, holidays, promotional rates, group reservations, and whole-lodge buyouts may have separate cancellation or deposit terms disclosed at booking.

Check-In & Check-Out

Check-in is 3:00 PM or later. Check-out is by 11:00 AM. Someone from our team will be onsite or readily available if needed.

Early check-in and late check-out may be available with prior approval. Unapproved late check-outs may be charged $50 per hour and, when significantly interfering with an incoming reservation, up to one night’s room rate.

Adults Only

Fernweh Lodge is an adults-only property for guests 18 and older. Guests must be 21 or older to purchase or consume alcohol.

Guests & Visitors

Registered guests may have a limited number of daytime visitors. Visitors must be accompanied by a registered guest, follow property policies, and may not stay overnight. Fernweh reserves the right to limit visitors at any time.

The pool and sauna are reserved for registered overnight guests unless otherwise approved.

Parties, larger gatherings, photo shoots, commercial activity, and events are not permitted with a standard room reservation. Unauthorized gatherings may result in a minimum $500 charge, plus additional cleaning, staffing, damage, or event-related costs, and may result in termination of the stay without refund.

Maximum Occupancy

Each room accommodates a maximum of two overnight guests, with a maximum of 10 overnight guests across the lodge. All overnight guests must be registered. Unauthorized overnight guests may result in a $150 per person, per night charge.

Housekeeping

To reduce unnecessary water, energy, and laundry use, housekeeping is provided by request. Please let us know by 8:00 PM the evening before if you would like service the following day. Fresh towels, toiletries, and necessities are always available upon request.

Property Amenities

Registered guests may enjoy Fernweh’s shared spaces, including the pool, sauna, gardens, porches, Frankie’s, lounges, and game room. Amenities may occasionally be unavailable due to weather, maintenance, seasonal conditions, or circumstances outside our control.

Pool & Sauna

The pool and sauna are reserved for registered overnight guests unless otherwise approved. There is no lifeguard on duty, and use is at your own risk. Please follow posted rules and operating hours. Glassware is not permitted in or immediately around the pool.

Alcohol

Guests must be 21 or older to purchase or consume alcohol. Fernweh reserves the right to refuse or discontinue alcohol service when appropriate.

Smoking

Smoking and vaping are permitted only in designated outdoor areas. Smoking or vaping elsewhere on the property will result in a minimum $300 cleaning and remediation charge. Additional costs may apply when professional remediation or replacement of furnishings or linens is required.

Pets

Pets are not permitted. Service animals are accommodated in accordance with applicable law. Guests remain responsible for damage or excessive cleaning resulting from an animal accompanying their party.

Accessibility

Fernweh is located within a historic home and is not currently fully accessible. Guest rooms require stairs, including some steep stairways, and there is no elevator. Please contact us before booking if you have mobility concerns so we can provide additional information.

Parking

Complimentary onsite parking is available for registered guests in designated areas. Parking is limited. Fernweh is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to vehicles or belongings left inside them.

Quiet Hours & Guest Conduct

Quiet hours are 10:00 PM–8:00 AM. Please keep outdoor noise to a minimum and indoor noise at a level that does not disturb other guests or neighbors.

Serious or repeated violations may result in a disturbance charge of up to $250. Excessive noise, disruptive behavior, unauthorized gatherings, property damage, or conduct interfering with another guest’s stay may result in removal without refund.

Damage, Missing Property & Excessive Cleaning

Guests are responsible for damage beyond normal wear and tear caused by themselves or their visitors.

Spaces requiring excessive or specialized cleaning may be subject to a minimum $250 cleaning charge. Missing or damaged property will be charged at the reasonable cost of repair or replacement, including specialized labor, shipping, or restoration when necessary. Significant damage resulting in documented loss of use may incur additional charges to the extent permitted by law.

Applicable charges may be made to the payment method on file.

Access Codes & Property Security

Guest access codes are intended for registered guests and may not be shared with unregistered visitors. Codes are active only for the applicable reservation period.

Fernweh reserves the right to enter guest accommodations when reasonably necessary for emergencies, safety concerns, maintenance, requested housekeeping, or protection of the property.

Personal Belongings

Fernweh is not responsible for lost, stolen, or unattended belongings. Found items will be held for 14 days. Guests are responsible for shipping and handling costs for returned items.

Events & Whole-Lodge Buyouts

Standard room reservations do not include private gatherings or events. Events, additional visitors, catering, vendors, and event-space use must be arranged and approved in advance.

Whole-lodge buyouts accommodate a maximum of 10 overnight guests. Separate event terms, deposits, minimums, cancellation policies, and attendance limits may apply.

Photography & Commercial Use

Personal photography is welcome. Professional or commercial photography, styled shoots, productions, brand activations, and other commercial use require prior approval and may be subject to an additional fee or separate agreement.

Minimum Stays

Minimum-night stays may apply during holidays, festivals, special events, and select dates and will be displayed at booking.

Right to Refuse or Terminate a Stay

Fernweh reserves the right to refuse service or terminate a stay when reasonably necessary to protect guests, staff, neighbors, property, or the peaceful operation of the lodge, or when property policies are materially violated. Guests removed for serious or repeated violations may not be entitled to a refund and remain responsible for applicable charges.

Property Conditions

Fernweh is a historic property with stairs, thresholds, uneven surfaces, and outdoor terrain. Guests are responsible for exercising reasonable care while using the property and its amenities.

To the extent permitted by law, Fernweh is not responsible for injury, loss, delay, inconvenience, or interruption resulting from circumstances outside our reasonable control, including weather, utility interruptions, acts of nature, or temporary amenity closures.

Acknowledgment

By completing a reservation, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to these policies and accept financial responsibility for your reservation and any applicable charges incurred under them.
