The Rush is
Over
Jacksonville was built in a hurry.
Gold in the ground.
People headed west.
Everybody looking for something.
We’re not in much of a hurry anymore.
Fernweh is an old house with five rooms, a pool out back, a bar downstairs, and a few good places to lose an afternoon.
We believe in sleeping in.
Taking the long way.
Drinks before dinner.
Dinner that turns into another drink.
Old things with a story.
New friends.
No particular plans.
We believe a hotel can feel more like a house.
That good hospitality doesn’t need to hover.
That luxury can be a little room to yourself, a cold pool on a hot day, a good bed at the end of it, and enough time to enjoy all three.
Go into town.
Stay by the pool.
Open a bottle.
Read the book.
Take the nap.
Change your plans.
There’s plenty too see around here.
There’s also nothing wrong with doing absolutely nothing.
The gold rush came and went. We kept the good part.
Take it easy.
